Put a container below the drain plug.
Remove the lock-wire from the magnetic
drain plug.
Drain the gearbox oil through the included
filter for bigger pieces and non-magnetic
material.
The filter is included in the scheduled
maintenance kit of Austro Engine.
Put the magnetic drain plug into a solvent of
oil contamination removal momentarily for a
better debris inspection.
Examine the magnetic drain plug for debris
contamination.
Following types of particles are
permitted:
- Small quantities that are like
thin pieces of hair. Refer to
Fig. 85 - 26.
- Small quantities that are like
powder. Refer to Fig. 85 - 27.
Following types of particles are
not permitted:
- Large quantities that are like
thin pieces of hair.
- Large quantities that are like
powder.
- Particles that are like flakes.
- Particles larger than the above
given.
If this is the first gearbox oil inspection (gearbox TSN: 100 h), a quantity of
debris as shown in Fig. 85 - 26 is permitted.
If the total period of operation of the gearbox is more than 100 h, less quantity
of debris is permitted. Refer to Fig. 85 - 27.
If the particles on the magnetic drain plug are larger than the permitted
quantity of debris, replace the gearbox.
Clean the magnetic drain plug.
