Troubleshooting Information
1. General
The table below lists the possible defects of the turbocharger system. If you have the trouble detailed
in the Trouble column, read across to the Possible Cause column. Then do the repair in the Repair
column.

Whistling noise
The air filter is clogged
Replace the air filter
Worn bearings
Replace the turbocharger
Turbocharger failure
Damaged compressor blades
Replace the turbocharger
Low boost pressure
Wastegate rod broken
Replace the wastegate
Wastegate rod disconnected
Connect the waste gate rod
Use a new circlip
Charged air system leaking
Air intake hose collapsed
Replace air intake hose
High boost pressure
BPA defective
Replace BPA
Wastegate controller defective
Replace wastegate controller
The turbocharger torque seal is
twisted.
Replace the turbocharger
assembly with the wastegate
controller and BPA.

44-49.
