G. Remove the Gearbox Oil Filter
For a gearbox rev.79 to rev.90 installed on a “-B” or “-C” engine, the gearbox
temperature sensor (GBTS) is installed instead of the plug screw.
Disconnect the GBTS before you do the following steps.
It is recommended to remove the GBTS before the filter removal.
Be careful with the GBTS.
Remove the lock-wire from the plug screw.
Remove the gearbox oil filter with screw (e.g.
M8x50 or longer)
For a 100 h check of the gearbox oil filter:
Visually examine the filter for:
- Damage
- Debris
- Contamination
- Metal abrasion.
Clean the oil filter with Brake Cleaner.
If you find unusual contamination:
- Metal shavings larger than 1 mm
- Concentration of particles
- Clogged filter
Replace the gearbox.
Discard the used filter.
Install a new filter.
