4. Boost Pressure Actuator (BPA)
A. Remove the BPA
Remove the electrical connector BPA.
Remove the clamps from the hose to the BPA.
Loosen the screws that attach the BPA to the
bracket on the cylinder head cover.
B. Install the BPA
There are two different BPA installation configurations on the E4 engine:
Configuration 1: the BPA inlet is connected to the turbocharger. Refer to
Fig. 81 - 8.
Configuration 2: the BPA inlet is connected to the manifold and thus the BPA is
installed twisted. Refer to Fig. 81 - 9.
For Configuration 1: do the steps (1), (4), (5), (6) and (9).
For Configuration 2: do all the following steps.
If you replace parts (e.g. bracket or hose), install the BPA Configuration 2.
Tighten the screws at the bracket with washers and
new counter nuts.
Make sure that the spacer is installed on the
manifold.

Paragraph 2.
For the installation direction of
the restrictor and the hose
clamps position, refer to Fig. 81
- 10.
Install the hoses and the restrictor and attach the
clamps.
Connect the electrical connector BPA.
If the initial BPA was installed with configuration 1
(BPA connected to the turbocharger), make sure
that the turbocharger outlet is plugged with a set
screw.
Secure the set screw with Loctite 542.
