85-Maintenance Procedures

85-30-00 Reciprocating Engine - Cylinder Section
1. Intake Air System
A. Remove the Intake Air Manifold
Detail Steps/Work Items
Key Items/References
(1)
Remove the intake hoses.
Refer to the applicable Aircraft
Maintenance Manual.
(2)
Put a container below the engine coolant drain.
(3)
Drain the engine coolant.
Refer to the applicable Aircraft
Maintenance Manual.
(4)
Remove the gearbox.
If the optional gearbox oil
cooler is installed.
Refer to Section 85-10-00 Paragraph
4.A.
(5)
Remove the coolant hoses.
Refer to the applicable Aircraft
Maintenance Manual.
(6)
Remove the coolant thermostat.
Refer to Section 85-50-00 Paragraph
4.A.

Remove the intake air temperature sensors:
#1 - IAT1 (B50/1)
#2 - IAT2 (B50/2)
Refer to Paragraph 3.A.

Remove the boost pressure sensors:
#1 - BPS1 (B5/1)
#2 - BPS2 (B5/2)
Refer to Paragraph 2.A.
Connection points of the coolant temperature sensors are different for
configuration “-B” / “-C” and configuration “-A”.

Remove the coolant temperature sensors:
#1 - CTS (B50/3)
#2 - CTS (B50/4), if installed before.
Refer to Section 85-50-00 Paragraph
1.A.

Remove the plug screw from the intake air
manifold.
If the optional gearbox oil
cooler is installed.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 93.

Remove the 9 collar screws from the intake air
manifold.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 90.

Remove the intake air manifold.
(13)
Remove the gasket.
(14)
Clean the sealing surface.
