5. Wastegate Controller
A. Remove the Wastegate Controller
Examine the turbocharger torque seal for distortion.
Refer to Section 05-20-00
item 45-49.
Remove the clamp from the air hose to the wastegate
controller.
Disconnect the air hose from the port of the
wastegate controller.
Connect the hose of the air pressure device to the
wastegate controller.
Attach the hose with a clamp.
Use a calibrated air pressure device, which increases the pressure stepwise.
Slowly pressurize the wastegate controller with
compressed air until the connection rod starts to
move.
Use the air pressure device.
Remove the spring loaded circlip.
Discard the spring loaded circlip.
Spring loaded circlips are one-time use only.
Remove the hexagon screws that attach the
wastegate to the compressor housing.
Engine configuration “-A” and “-C”: 2 hexagon screws
Engine configuration “-B”: 3 hexagon screws
Do not bend and twist the connection rod of the wastegate controller at any
time!
Carefully remove the wastegate controller from the
turbocharger in axial direction of the wastegate pin.
Slowly release the pressure of the air pressure device.
Remove the clamp and disconnect the air pressure
device.
