85-00-00 Reciprocating Engine
1. General
This chapter contains information how to remove/install and examine the reciprocating engine
components.
2. System Description/Operation
Gearbox
The E4 engine has a gearbox installed to decrease RPM from the 3880 RPM maximum of the engine
to 2300 RPM at the propeller. The reduction ratio of the gearbox is 1.69:1.

Fig. 85 - 1 for the gearbox case and the gearbox case cape of the disassembled gearbox.
The gearbox contains three gears. The gearbox housing is casted and the gears are of steel.
The governor is attached to the top of the gearbox and controls the pitch of the propeller.
