(c) Replace the timing chain wheel
Turn the engine to the TDC (top dead center)
position.
Incorrect alignment of the marks on the camshafts timing wheels will reduce
the available power. Two inspections are recommended.
Align the punch marks on the camshafts
timing wheels.
Make sure the holes of the timing wheels are
on the exhaust side.
Make sure the lower edge is aligned with the
cylinder head surface.
Each timing wheel has a 6 mm hole.
To do the correct setting of the
camshafts, install the AE300T-009 tool
into the holes of the timing wheels.
Make sure you install the tool at the
exhaust side and it touches the
cylinder head housing.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 155.
Loosen the three screws of the chain wheel.
Make sure the chain does not fall into
the chain slot.
Install the new chain wheel.
Engage the teeth of the timing wheel
in the chain.
Turn the wheel in the chain to install
the wheel at the centering pin at the
camshaft.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 156.
Install three new screws on the new chain
wheel.
Do not tighten the screws at this time.
Install a new gasket at the chain tensioner.
Tightening torque 80 Nm (708 inch-
lbs)
Turn the engine to the TDC position.
Make sure that the two punch marks of the
timing wheels are aligned.
Make sure the pins of the tool AE300T-009
are in touch with the cylinder head and are
on the exhaust side.
Obey all three points at the same time.
If the timing setup is correct, remove the
AE300T-009 tool from the timing wheels.
