– Accelerate the pulley by hand also
clockwise.
The rotor shall turn without delay.

Examine the contact ring.
Refer to Fig. 24 - 9.

Measure the grooving on the contact
ring.
Grooving (<0.5 mm) caused by abrasion of
carbon brushes are permitted.
If grooving (>0.5 mm) are visible, replace
the alternator.
Do not use a steel brush for cleaning to prevent any damage.

Clean the contact ring with a soft brush.
(4)
Make sure the diameter of the contact
ring is 15 mm +/- 2 mm.
