Examine the contact ring.
Refer to Fig. 24 - 38.
(2)
Measure the grooving on the contact ring.
Grooving (<0.5 mm) caused by abrasion
of carbon brushes are permitted.
If grooving (>0.5 mm) are visible, replace
the alternator.
Do not use a steel brush for cleaning to prevent any damage.
(3)
Clean the contact ring with a soft brush.
