4. Examine the threaded insert for correct installation

(1)
Do a check of the insertion properties.
For threaded inserts per LN 9039 (non
locking):
It must be possible to install the threaded
insert without a tool.
For inserts per LN 9499 (screw locking):
The threaded insert must not rotate.
Use the fastener or an internal limit
gauge.
(2)
Make sure that the threaded insert does not
rotate when you screw the bolt.
- If the threaded insert rotates, secure
the insert with Loctite.
Refer to Paragraph 6 for the
procedure how to safety the
threaded inserts.
(3)
Remove all the remaining anti-corrosion agent,
sealant or adhesive.
(4)
Measure the insertion depth x (both sides in
the case of through holes).
Refer to Fig. 70 - 19.
(5)
Make sure that the tang is removed.
5. Remove the threaded inserts

Permitted only if specified for the damaged threaded inserts!
(1)
To remove a threaded insert, select a
manufacturer’s removal tool that is applicable
to the internal thread diameter of the insert.
- Move this tool into the insert in a tight
fit.
(2)
Turn the tool counterclockwise under constant
pressure.
The insert must be removed.
(3)
If a new threaded insert of the same size is
installed, recut the thread.
