81- Maintenance Procedures
D. Install the Wastegate Controller Conrod Fail-Safe Bridge
There are two procedures to secure the bolts on the Wastegate Controller to prevent rotation:
– By use of lock-wire
– By use of Nord-Lock washers under the head of the bolts.
If Nord-Lock washers are used to secure the bolts, use new Nord-Lock washer
every time the bolts are loosened.
Nord-Lock washers are for one-time use only!
Tighten two screws equally on the clamp [A] of
wastegate controller-side.
The gap between clamp and screws
must be equal on each side.
Refer to Fig. 81 - 21.
Carefully increase the tension on cables [B] by
hand in the direction of wastegate [D].
Tighten two screws equally on the clamp [C] of
waste gate controller-side.
The gap between clamp and screws
must be equal on each side.
Do not bend and twist the connection rod of the wastegate controller at any
time!
Do not use degreasing agents!
Do not use scrape or sharp tools on the turbocharger parts!
There must be no residue on the
surface at the torque seal positions
on the turbocharger.
Apply torques seal (Bäder Lacke Schrauben-
Sicherungslack, color blue):
– On the cleaned surface between the
conrod and each clamp
– Between the four screw heads and the
clamps.
If wire locking is used to secure the bolts, install
the lock-wires.
