05-00-00 Time Limits and Maintenance Check
1. General
This chapter describes how to do the maintenance of the E4 engine correctly. Refer to Chapter 04 and
05 to find out when to do maintenance and inspections.
Section 05-10-00 contains Time Limits and Maintenance Requirements for components. It also
contains the engine Time before Overhaul.
Section 05-20-00 contains the scheduled maintenance program.
Section 05-50-00 contains instructions for unscheduled maintenance.
The times given in this chapter are the recommended times by the engine manufacturer. These times
are the minimum intervals required to keep the engine in a good technical condition.
Obey the time limits and maintenance requirements below to obtain the maximum service life of the
E4 engine.
Do the scheduled maintenance at the intervals and within the tolerances in this chapter.
Time limits and maintenance checks have been established for operation in a moderate climate and
on paved runways. For operation under rough conditions (extreme temperatures, saline air, wind-
borne sand, operation on grass runways, etc.) it may be necessary to make changes to the
maintenance requirements given in this chapter. Decrease the time between scheduled maintenance
checks if the engine’s operation makes it necessary. Do not extend the time between scheduled
maintenance checks without the approval of the Airworthiness Authority of the country where the
engine is registered.
All applicable national and international regulations must be observed.
If the engine has not been in operation for a certain time, a service interval based on time becomes
effective. The time intervals are beneath the operating service interval.
Work on the engine must be done by a certificated mechanic or otherwise authorized persons under
consideration of the applicable national requirements. For warranty reason, only trained personnel
may do the tasks described in this manual.
Failure to follow the scheduled maintenance checks will lead to rejection of warranty claims by Austro
Engine GmbH.
