Replacing the Pipette Assembly

4 When you replace the pipette assembly, it will be necessary to align the pipette to
the base plate using the Pipette alignment jig (jig number PMFIX017-A). The base
plate should be mounted on the jig as shown in Figure 7-4. The pipette alignment
jig should be positioned on the baseplate in the reagent rack location.

To Align the Pipette:
1 Loosen the two screws for adjustment in the X plane.
2 Gently move the X-arm, Y-arm, and pipette until the pipette is inserted in the jig.
3 Hold the pipette against the fixture, then tighten the two Y-plane screws.
4 Ensure that the pipette bottom plane is parallel to the fixture. If it is not parallel to
the Y-plane, readjust as noted in Steps 1 through 3. If it is not parallel to the
X-plane, readjust as noted on page 7-15.
