a Make sure that the bin is level.
b Check the bin for damage, and replace if necessary.

a Test the motor (staple finisher exit) and motor (staple finisher upper
exit).
Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
MOTOR TESTS > Staple Finisher Motor Tests > Upper exit roller or
Exit roller lift
b Check if the belts, gears, and rollers are properly moving.
Are they properly moving?
Go to step 12. Go to step 11.

a Reseat the cable on the motors.
b Make sure that the motors are properly installed.
c Check the motors and cables for damage, and replace if necessary.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 12. The problem is solved.
Step 12
a Make sure that the belts and gears are properly installed.
b Check the parts for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. See
“Staple finisher—Exit section 2” on page 557.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 13. The problem is solved.
Step 13
a Make sure that the exit roller solenoid is properly installed.
b Check the solenoid for damage, and replace if necessary. See “Staple
finisher exit roller solenoid removal” on page 284.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 14. The problem is solved.
Step 14
a Make sure that the upper exit roller assembly parts are properly
installed.
b Check the parts for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. See
“Staple finisher—Exit section 1” on page 555.
Go to step 15. The problem is solved.
