a Remove any debris from the paper path.
b Reseat the interface cable that is plugged into the SHPF.
c Reset the printer.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 2. The problem is solved.
Step 2
Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
Printer setup > Reset engine service error
Note: Perform this step every time a service error occurs.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 3. The problem is solved.
Step 3
Check the HPT door sensor actuator and door hinges for damage, and
replace the HPT if necessary. See
“Horizontal paper transport” on
page 567.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 4. The problem is solved.
Step 4
Check the idler rollers for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. See
“Horizontal paper transport—Covers 1” on page 569.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 5. The problem is solved.
Step 5
a Make sure that the HPT feed sensor actuator is properly installed.
b Check the actuator for damage, and replace if necessary. See “HPT
feed sensor actuator removal” on page 323.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 6. The problem is solved.
Step 6
a Test the sensor (HPT feed).
Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
SENSOR TESTS > Staple, Hole Punch Finisher Sensor Tests > HTU
entrance
b Toggle the sensor.
Does the sensor status change while toggling the sensor?
Go to step 9. Go to step 7.
