installed.
b Check the actuator for damage, and replace if necessary. See “Sensor

Step 5
a Make sure that the sensor (SHPF entrance) and sensor (SHPF top bin
exit) are properly installed.
b Make sure that the sensors are free of debris or dust.
c Reseat the cable on the sensors. Check the cable for damage, and
replace if necessary.
d Check the sensors for damage.
Are the sensors free of damage?
Go to step 6. Go to step 7.
Step 6
a Test the sensors.
Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
SENSOR TESTS > Staple and Hole Punch Finisher Sensor Test > Paper
entrance or Top bin exit
b Toggle the sensor.
Does the sensor status change while toggling the sensor?
Go to step 8. Go to step 7.
Step 7
Replace the damaged sensor. See
“Sensor (SHPF entrance) removal” on
page 446 and “Sensor (SHPF top bin exit) removal” on page 397.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 8. The problem is solved.
Step 8
a Make sure that the belts and gears connected to the motors are
properly installed.
b Check the belts and gears for wear or damage, and replace if
necessary. See
“SHPF—Transport section 2” on page 581.
