Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
PRINTER SETUP > Reset Engine Service Error
Note: Perform this step every time a service error occurs.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 3. The problem is solved.

a Reseat the cable CN102 on the staple finisher controller board.
b If applicable, reseat the junction connectors on the cable.
c Make sure that the cable does not block the path of moving parts.
d Check the cable for damage, and replace if necessary.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 4. The problem is solved.
Step 4
a Test the motor (staple finisher front tamper).
Enter the Diagnostics menu, and then navigate to:
MOTOR TESTS > Staple Finisher Motor Tests > Tamper, front
b Check if the tampers are properly moving.
Are they moving properly?
Go to step 6. Go to step 5.
Step 5
a Reseat the cable on the motor.
b Make sure that the motor is properly installed.
c Check the motor and cable for damage, and replace if necessary. See
“Motor (staple finisher tamper) removal” on page 238.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 6. The problem is solved.
Step 6
a Make sure that the tamper gears are properly installed.
b Check the gears for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. See
“Staple finisher tamper drive gears removal” on page 313.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 7. The problem is solved.
Step 7
a Make sure that the sensor (staple finisher front tamper home) is
properly installed.
b Make sure that the sensor is free of debris or dust.
c Reseat the cable on the sensor. Check the cable for damage, and
replace if necessary.
d Check the sensor for damage.
Is the sensor free of damage?
Go to step 8. Go to step 9.
