STS1 Explanation to Figure 1
This report shows the primary, secondary, source and destination nodes. Observe
the following from the report (no DRI switch means traffic is coming from the primary
node):
• Scan the report in the Primary State column and locate a 1-way DRI. A 1-way
DRI is a 1-way add cross-connection and a 1-way through cross-connection
sharing the same outgoing line and tributary. Note that one of these cross-con-
nections will be active (ACT) while the other will be standby (STBY). In this
report, the Ring Node column indicates Concord-MA is provisioned with a 1-way
DRI cross-connection.
•Theprimary node is a node at which a 1-way DRI cross-connection has been
provisioned. In this report, Concord-MA is the primary node. Concord-MA is
also the active source node because the add cross-connection is indicated by
ACT in the Primary State column.
•Thesecondary node is given in the Source TID column associated with the
incoming tributary of the 1-way DRI. In this report, the secondary node is to the
right (East) of the 1-way DRI, Chicopee-MA. Chicopee-MA is also the standby
source node because the through cross-connect at Concord-MA is indicated by
STBY in the Primary State column.
•Thedestination node isgivenintheDestination TID column associated
with the outgoing tributary of the 1-way DRI. In this report, the destination node
is to the left (West) of the 1-way DRI, Worcester-MA.
• Note: If a DRI switch occurs and the secondary node becomes the active source
node, the through cross-connection will become ACT and the add cross-connec-
tion will become STBY.
