Circuit Pack Descriptions
7-22 Issue 8.0 July 2002
The sanity check circuitry detects hardware and software faults. When a fault
occurs, the microprocessor is reset and the FAULT LED on the circuit pack
faceplate is lighted.
General Description of Operation 7
The OHCTL (TERM) circuit pack assembles and disassembles the embedded
information for the section and line overhead bytes. These overhead bytes include
section and line data communications bytes, section and line orderwire bytes,
growth bytes, and user bytes. Refer to Appendix A, "A SONET Overview," for
definitions of SONET sections, lines, and paths. The OHCTL (TERM) circuit pack
also interfaces with the SYSCTL circuit pack.

Processor. 7Figure 7-8 provides an overall block diagram of the OHCTL (TERM)
circuit pack. The OHCTL (TERM) circuit pack provides protocol processing for the
data communications channels and manages the overhead access local area
network (OALAN) communications with the SYSCTL circuit pack.
