Ring Applications Not Used to Distribute Timing 5
Asynchronous Applications (DS-3 Low Speed Interfaces Only) . 5In ring
applications not used to distribute timing signals to BITS clocks, there are six
possible synchronization configurations. The two asynchronous configurations
are as follows:
â– One node provisioned free running; all other nodes provisioned
through timed: This configuration (Figure 5-16) is used when there are
only asynchronous (DS3) low speed interfaces on every node in the ring.
Only one node in the ring should be provisioned free running. This prevents
cumulative pointer processing on transmission signals passing through a
node.
