Auto Turnup 9
The auto turnup tests are performed by the FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System to
verify that the system has been installed correctly. These tests verify the system
transmission capabilities and include testing all the service and protection
transmission paths to detect any cabling errors.
The auto turnup tests are controlled using the CIT and should only be performed
on an out-of-service system. Before executing an auto turnup test at the CIT, no
trouble conditions should be present in the system except conditions associated
with the test setup. After executing an auto turnup test, the CIT will not accept any
commands until the test is complete. An auto turnup test can be aborted at any
time or terminated prematurely if a condition exists that prevents the test from
completing. The test results are displayed on the CIT. For more information about
auto turnup tests, refer to the "Operation and Maintenance (TOP)" section
(Volume II).
The following auto turnup tests are provided:
â– Local (Terminal Self-Test):TheFAULT-Test-Auto Turnup-Local
input verifies the internal health of the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings
Terminal itself. It tests the transmission path between the low-speed
interface circuit packs [DS3, STS1E, OC-3, and OC12 (1.3 STD)] and the
OC48 RCVR and OC48 TRMTR circuit packs (Figure 9-25). The FT-2000
OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal also tests the through and loopback
transmission paths between OC48 RCVR and OC48 TRMTR circuit packs.
