OC3 (LAA10/LAA10B) Circuit Pack
Description 7
Purpose of Circuit 7
The OC3 Optical Interface - 1.3µm Standard Performance [OC3 (1.3 STD)] circuit
pack provides a bidirectional low speed interface between one synchronous OC-3
optical signal (155.52 Mb/s) and an internal synchronous STS-3/3c signal (155.52
Mb/s). The OC3 circuit pack is compatible with Release 5.0.1-ADR and later
software only.
NOTE:
The OC3 (1.3 STD) LAA10B circuit pack is backward-compatible with the
current OC3 (1.3 STD) LAA10 circuit pack. The OC3 LAA10B circuit pack
provides all the maintenance, provisioning, and performance monitoring
features of the OC3 LAA10 circuit pack.
NOTE:
The FT-2000 ADR Terminal does not support mixed LAA10/LAA10B
operation in a 1+1 protected configuration. In a 1+1 configuration, all
adjacent LS INTFC slots (for example, slots 2A and 2B) MUST be equipped
with either LAA10 circuit packs or LAA10B circuit packs (but not a mix of the
two) in both slots IF that slot pair is configured for 1+1 protection.
Faceplate LED 7
The OC3 (1.3 STD) circuit pack has a red FAULT LED on its faceplate
(Figure 7-17). The red FAULT LED is continuously lighted when a circuit pack
failure is detected or when the circuit pack loses power. If the circuit pack loses
power, a separate path is provided for power from the Line Controller (LNCTL)
circuit pack to light the FAULT LED on the OC3 (1.3 STD) circuit pack.
The board controller on the OC3 (1.3 STD) circuit pack detects hardware and
software faults on the circuit pack. When a fault occurs, the FAULT LED on the
circuit pack is continuously lighted. If an incoming OC-3 signal from the lightguide
cross-connect panel (or equivalent) fails, the FAULT LED will flash on and off.
