Maintenance Description
Issue 8.0 July 2002
9-73
NOTE:
The FAULT-Operate-Loopback-T3, FAULT-Operate-
Loopback-EC1, FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC3 and
FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC12 inputs will complete regardless of
whether the selected low-speed interface slot(s) is equipped (EQ).
NOTE:
For Release 7.2 and later, the FAULT-Operate-Loopback-T3,
FAULT-Operate-Loopback-EC1, FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC12,
and FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC3 inputs will be denied if the pack
inserted in the addressed slot is of the wrong type or the addressed slot is
not equipped.
NOTE:
For Release 7.2 and later, the FAULT-Operate-Loopback-T3,
FAULT-Operate-Loopback-EC1, FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC12,
and FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC3 inputs require that a LNCTL circuit
pack be installed and operating in order to execute. If the LNCTL slot is in
the AUTO state, if the LNCTL has been removed, or if the LNCTL has
failed, the command shall be denied with error code EMCD_NOLNCTL.
In Release 4.1 and later releases, DS3 and EC-1 loopbacks can also be made
through the message-based operations system interface, using X.25 protocol and
Transaction Language 1 (TL1) messages. In Release 5 and later releases, OC-3
and OC-12 loopbacks can be made through the message-based operations
system interface.
Active electronic loopbacks are noted by the abnormal (ABN) LED on the user
panel and in the alarm and status report.
A remote DS3, EC-1, OC-3 or OC-12 loopback can be done through a remote
login. This loops the remote low-speed signal back toward the local terminal.
High-Speed (OC-48) 9
The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System allows loopbacks to be performed on all
high-speed interfaces. Front access to the optical connectors on the circuit pack
faceplates allows a manual OC-48 optical loopback. This loopback is performed
by connecting the optical connector on the faceplate of the OC48 TRMTR circuit
pack to the optical connector on the faceplate of the OC48 RCVR circuit pack with
a single-mode fiber jumper and lightguide buildouts. A loopback can also be
performed on an OC48 REGENR circuit pack by connecting the IN and OUT
connector on the circuit pack faceplate with a single-mode fiber jumper and
lightguide buildouts.
