6-12 Issue 8.0 July 2002
Remote Access Using the OC-3/OC-12 Data
Communications Channel (DCC) 6
In Release 6 and later releases, the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
supports CIT remote access using the OC-3 data communications channel
(DCC). In Release 7.1.0 the FT-2000 OC-48 ADR Terminal supports CIT remote
access (via the OC-12 DCC Channel) for 0x1 applications. This allows the local
FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal to access a remote FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal or a remote DDM-2000 Multiplexer. A user logged in
locally to a DDM-2000 Multiplexer can also log in remotely to any other
DDM-2000 Multiplexer within the same subnetwork via the OC-3/OC-12 and
OC-48 DCC. However, a DDM-2000 Multiplexer cannot access an FT-2000
OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal. The FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
supports one incoming remote login session (from another FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal) and one outgoing login session (to a DDM-2000
Multiplexer or another FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal) at a time. For
example, a local user can gain remote access to a remote FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal or DDM-2000 Multiplexer at the same time as a remote
user can gain remote access to the local terminal.
The CIT must be a PC equipped with FT-2000 CIT-PC software to establish a
remote login to a DDM-2000 Multiplexer. For more information about establishing
remote access, refer to the "Operation and Maintenance (TOP)" section
(Volume II).
The FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal must be equipped with the
OC3/OC-12 Optical Interface - 1.3µm Standard Performance [OC3/OC-12 (1.3
STD)] circuit pack and the Overhead Controller - Tributary (TOHCTL) circuit pack
to access the OC-3/OC-12 DCC. A single TOHCTL circuit pack can access up to
eight OC-3 DCCs or two OC-12 DCCs. Low speed interface slots must be
assigned to an OC-3/OC-12 DCC channel. For more information about entering
OC-3/OC-12 DCC channel assignments, refer to Section 8, "Administration and
Provisioning."
