Assignment Inputs 8
The OC-3 DCC assignments must be specified and administered using the
following inputs

â– CONFIGURATION-Enter-Assignment-DCC: This input assigns an OC-3
DCC to a particular low-speed interface slot or pair of low-speed interface
slots. An OC-3 DCC assignment is entered by first specifying a low-speed
interface slot and a DCC. The low-speed interface slot may be a single slot
in the OC-3 0x1 operating mode, or a low-speed interface slot in a slot pair
(for example, slot 2A and 2B) operating in the OC-3 1+1 protected mode.
(When entering an assignment to a 1+1 protected slot pair, an active
assignment is made to the active slot of the slot pair and a standby
assignment is made to the standby slot of the slot pair.) The user must
specify a single DCC (channel 1-8).
After the low-speed interface slot and DCC are specified, the user must
specify the orientation (
user
or
network
). If the
user
orientation is specified
at one end of the OC-3 DCC link, the
network
orientation must be specified
at the other end of the OC-3 DCC link.
An input requesting an OC-3 DCC assignment will be denied if one of the
following conditions is present:
— The specified slot is not equipped with an OC3 (1.3 STD) circuit
pack.
— TheTOHCTLslotisintheAUTOstate.
— The TOHCTL circuit pack has been removed.
— The TOHCTL circuit pack has failed.
An input requesting an OC-3 DCC assignment may be denied if an
automatic turnup test is running. During that part of the test cycle when the
DCC connections between the OC3 (1.3 STD) and TOHCTL circuit packs
are being verified, an input requesting an OC-3 DCC assignment will be
denied.
The CONFIGURATION-Enter-Assignment-DCC inputcanalsobeused
to change the value (
user
or
network
) of the orientation parameter
associated with an existing OC-3 DCC assignment. This is accomplished
by reentering the same OC-3 DCC assignment with the new value for the
orientation parameter.
* The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System is menu-driven and prompts the user to enter the
desired input.
