Applications
2-44 Issue 8.0 July 2002
■ GNE operation: One or more FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop Rings Terminals
can serve as a single interface to the local X.25 message-based operations
system for the DDM-2000 Multiplexers through the OC-3 DCC. The GNE
also serves as a single interface for all FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings
Terminals in the same ring network and in the same subnetwork. For more
information about GNE operations, refer to the “Gateway Network
Element” application in this section.
■ RNE status: One or more FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminals can
receive and transport alarm and status information from other FT-2000
OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminals and DDM-2000 Multiplexers that are in
the same subnetwork and alarm group. Within a subnetwork, NEs in the
same alarm group (provisionable) exchange alarm and status information
through at least one alarm gateway network element (AGNE). When an
AGNE receives alarm and status information, it rebroadcasts the
information to all the other NEs in the alarm group. The AGNEs reduce the
number of technicians required to monitor equipment at remote sites.
When Release 6 of the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
interworks with Release 7.2 of the DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, an alarm
group supports up to 24 NEs. When Release 7 of the FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal interworks with Release 7.2 of the DDM-2000
OC-3 Multiplexer, an alarm group supports up to 32 NEs. When Release 6
of the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal interworks with Release 9
of the DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, an alarm group supports up to 24 NEs.
When Release 7 of the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
interworks with Release 9 of the DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, an alarm
group supports up to 32 NEs. For more information about provisioning
alarm groups and AGNEs, refer to Volume I, Section 8, “Administration and
Provisioning.”
The remote alarm and status information is reported at the AGNE using
remote office alarms, far-end parallel telemetry, a far-end active light
emitting diode (LED), and a network alarms report. For more information
about office alarms, parallel telemetry, and the far-end activity LED on the
user panel, refer to Volume I, Section 6, “Operations Interfaces”. For more
information about the network alarms report, refer to the
FAULT-Retrieve-Network Alarms input in Section 11, “Craft Interface
Terminal Usage.”
