Clear ‘Ring Incomplete/Open’
NOTE:
This condition indicates that the designated DS-NE network element is unable
to create a complete ring map because of a controller or transmission failure in
the ring network.
1. At the CIT, select FAULT-Retrieve-Network Alarms to obtain a Network
Alarms Report.
2. Does a controller circuit pack (SYSCTL, SYSMEM, LNCTL, or OHCTL) condi-
tion or an incoming OC-48 condition appear in the Active Alarms and Status
Reports?
If YES, then go to TAP-102 to clear the indicated condition(s).
If NO, then continue with Step 3.
NOTE:
You cannot obtain a valid Ring Map Report while this condition exists.
3. Consult office records to determine the Target Identifiers (TIDs) of the other
nodes in the ring.
4. Establish a remote login to any one of the other network elements identified in
Step 3. If you need help with the remote login, refer to DLP-524.
5. At the CIT, select FAULT-Retrieve-Alarms to obtain an Active Alarms and
Status Report for that network element.
6. Does a controller circuit pack (SYSCTL, SYSMEM, LNCTL, or OHCTL) condi-
tion or an incoming OC-48 condition appear in the Active Alarms and Status
Reports?
If YES, then go to TAP-102 to clear the indicated condition(s).
If NO, then continue with Step 7.
7. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 for each of the remaining network elements identi-
fied in Step 3.
8. Is the ring incomplete/open condition still active at the original network
element?
If YES, then continue with Step 9.
If NO, then STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
