Low-Speed Shelf — System Controller Circuit Packs 3
The Low-Speed Shelf — System Controller (Figure 3-3) provides the following
circuit pack slots:
■ LSINTFC1A-8B: Sixteen slots are provided for the following circuit packs.
— LAA2/LAA2B DS3 Interface (DS3) (S1:1 or S4:4) circuit pack (service):
The S1:1 DS3 circuit pack has been discontinued and replaced with the
S4:4 DS3 circuit pack. The S1:1 DS3 circuit pack is compatible with
Release 3.0.1-ADR software only. The S4:4 DS3 circuit pack is compatible
with Release 3.0.1-ADR or later software.
— LAA4 STS1 Electrical Interface (STS1E) circuit pack (service): The STS1E
circuit pack is compatible with Release 4.0.0-ADR or later software.
— LAA10/LAA10B OC3 Optical Interface — 1.3µm Standard Performance
(OC3 [1.3 STD]) circuit pack (service and protection): The OC3 (1.3 STD)
circuit pack is compatible with Release 5.0.1-ADR or later software. For
optional 1+1 nonrevertive protection, two OC3 (1.3 STD) circuit packs must
be placed in adjacent "A" and "B" LS INTFC slots (for example, LS INTFC
slots "2A" and "2B").
— LAA5IS-3OpticalInterface—TheIS-3circuitpackiscompatiblewith
Release 7.1.0 and later software. For intraoffice applications, it is a cost
effective alternative to the OC-3 Optical Interface. The IS-3 terminates one
input signal, generates one output signal, and supports the transport of
both STS-3 and STS-3c formats. It supports interconnection distances up
to 2000-feet using multimode fiber.
NOTE:
For both 1+1 nonrevertive protection applications and transport of
STS-3c, two IS-3 circuit packs must be placed in adjacent "A" and
"B" LS INTFC slots (for example, LS INTFC slots "2A" and "2B").
— T939A OC-12 Optical Interface 1.3µm Standard Performance circuit pack
(service and protection): The OC-12 circuit pack is compatible with
Release 7.1.0 and later software. It may be used for either intraoffice or
interoffice applications. The OC-12 terminates one STS-12/STS-12c input
signal and generates one STS-12/STS-12c output signal.
