Issue 8.0, July 2002 Page 1 of 8
TAP-174
Clear ‘Incoming (From OC-48) STS LOP’
Overview: An incoming (from OC-48) STS LOP condition may occur from any
of four different specific circuit pack failure. These circuit pack failures should be
diagnosed in the following priorized order:
a. Local NE TRMTR
b. Local NE RCVR
c. Upstream NE TRMTR
d. Local NE, one or more Low speed interfaces (only if the tributary is drop
connected).
NOTE:
If no attempt to clear any solid circuit pack failures has been made prior to now,
this should be done before clearing the LOP condition.
1. Does a `circuit pack failure' condition appear in the Active Alarms and Status
Report (also indicated by a lighted FAULT LED)?
If NO, then continue with Step 2.
If YES, then go to TAP-111.
NOTE:
Pointer processor devices (which detect STS-3 LOP) are located on the local
low-speed interface circuit packs and on the local high-speed TRMTR circuit
packs.
NOTE:
STS-3 Pointers are monitored for all tributaries, those with and those without
cross-connections. However, a protection switch is made only for tributaries
that have cross-connections.
NOTE:
You may need to travel to the node with the incoming condition or ask for
assistance at that node.
