Loop Back DS3 and/or EC1 Circuit(s) for Testing

CAUTION:
Traffic and service interruption can occur to the other DS3 or EC1 circuits if they
are accidentally looped back. Recheck the address of the port(s) being looped
back. Loopback occurs at the DS3 or EC1 level towards the OC-48 line(s).
NOTE:
A logical loopback will be completed and indicated whether or not a compatible
circuit pack is present. A physical loopback will occur only when a compatible
circuit pack is present. For example, if an Operate-Loopback-T3 command
is executed to an address of a slot containing an STS1E circuit pack, the logical
loopback will be "COMPLD" but no physical loopback will occur.
NOTE:
A DS3 or STS1E circuit pack has three ports.
1. Obtain the operation instructions to loop back the DS3 or EC1 circuit(s) for
testing and note the assigned address.
2. If required, connect and condition the craft interface terminal (CIT).

NOTE:
A single port may be looped back towards the OC-48 line(s) and will remain
looped until deactivated by the Release-Loopback-T3 or
Release-Loopback-EC1 selections.
At the CIT, select FAULT-Operate-Loopback-T3 (for DS3 circuits) or
FAULT-Operate-Loopback-EC1 (for EC1 circuits) for the first of the
specified port(s).
4. Repeat Step 3 for any remaining port(s).
5. Verify the ABN, NE ACTY, USE CIT, and PWR ON LEDs are lighted at the
user panel.
