Provision OC3 Slot for 1-Way Drop Service
Overview: This procedure is used only with Release 6.0 software to silence an
alarm condition. The condition is associated with a nonexistent incoming OC-3
low-speed signal (towards the OC-48 line) and associated with a valid outgoing
signal.
1. Determine the OC3 slot address from the work order (engineering
instructions).
2. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Crossconnection command
and determine what type of cross-connection(s) (if any) is already at that slot.
3. Is the OC3 slot cross-connected for a 1-way drop?
If YES, then continue with Step 4.
If NO, then STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
4. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Set-OC3 command and provision the
Alarm Level to NO to prevent the reporting or alarming of any future condition.
5. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-OC3 command and verify the
Alarm Level is provisioned correctly.
Supplemental Information: If an incoming OC3 LOS condition exists
prior to setting the Alarm Level to NO, this condition will not disappear
after the Alarm Level is set to NO. Only subsequent conditions will be
subdued (not reported). The user may clear the condition by temporarily
providing a good input signal until the condition clears or by reseating the
OC3 circuit pack. Only reseat the circuit pack if you are sure there is no
live traffic on the outgoing fiber, otherwise service interruption will occur.
6. STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
