Loop Back OC-12 Line(s) for Testing
!
CAUTION:
Traffic and service interruption can occur to other OC12 lines if they are
accidentally looped back. Recheck the address of the line(s) being looped back.
1. Obtain the operation instructions to loop back the OC12 line(s) for testing and
note the assigned address.
NOTE:
Loopback occurs at the OC12 slot in either the multiplex direction (towards
the OC-48 line) or the demultiplex direction (towards the lightguide
cross-connect panel). Simultaneous loopbacks in both directions are not
possible.
NOTE:
The OC12 slot must be cross-connected to a tributary for a valid loopback.
2. If required, connect and condition the craft interface terminal (CIT).
Reference: DLP-501
3. At the CIT, select FAULT-Operate-Loopback-OC12 for the first specified
slot(s) and the direction (either From OC48 or From OC12).
NOTE:
A loopback will remain in effect until deactivated by the
Release-Loopback-OC12 command.
4. Repeat Step 3 for any remaining slot(s).
5. Verify the ABN, NE ACTY, USE CIT, and PWR ON LEDs are lighted at the
user panel.
6. The slot(s) is now looped back in the direction specified in Step 3. If you wish
to verify, select Retrieve-Alarm for an updated Active Alarms and Status
Report. An example of this report with a description of the output parameters
is provided in Section 11 of this manual.
7. STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
