NOTE:
Each quad location consists of one command slot and three
extension slots. The command slot address is used in the OC-12
provisioning commands and for reporting any circuit pack and OC-12
signal-related alarm conditions. The extension slots are used to gain
access to the STS-3 signals, in conjunction with cross-connect
commands, and for reporting tributary related alarms.
Each low-speed shelf can support a maximum capacity of up to four OC-12 circuit
packs. The four circuit packs may be configured to operate independently in an
0x1 unprotected mode or as pairs in a 1+1 protected mode. In a protected mode,
the Service and Protection OC-12 packs must be inserted in quad pairs as
follows:
Quads 1 and 2, or
Quads 3 and 4.
NOTE:
Quads 2 and 3, or 1 and 4 will not protect each other.
In an all 0x1 configuration, the FT-2000 running Release 7.1.0 and later has the
capacity to add/drop four OC-12 equivalents of traffic. In an all 1+1 protected
configuration, the FT-2000 provides the capacity to add/drop two OC-12
equivalents of traffic. In a mixed 1+1/0x1 configuration, the capacity is three OC-
12 equivalents of traffic.
LS INTFC P1 and P2: Two slots are provided for one protection
LAA2 DS3 circuit pack (S4:4) and/or one protection LAA4 STS1E
circuit pack. Two DS3 or two STS1E circuit packs cannot be used.
TheprotectionDS3andSTS1Ecircuitpackscanbeplacedinslot
P1 or P2.
LSSW IN and OUT: Two slots are provided for the LAA12 LSSW
circuit packs. The LSSW circuit packs are required when DS3 and
STS1E low-speed protection is desired. The LSSW circuit packs are
not required if the LS INTFC slots are equipped with only OC3 (1.3
STD) circuit packs.
TOHCTL: One slot is provided for the LAA26 Tributary - Overhead
Controller (TOHCTL) circuit pack. The TOHCTL circuit pack is
required when an LS INTFC slot is equipped with an OC3 circuit
pack and single-ended operation is desired through the OC-3 data
communications channel (DCC). The TOHCTL circuit pack is
compatible with Release 6.0.0-ADR or later software.
TG 1 and 2: Two slots are provided for the LAA17 or LAA18 Timing
Generator, Stratum 3 - DS1 (TG3 [DS1]) circuit packs. The LAA17
TG3 (DS1) circuit pack has been discontinued and replaced with the
LAA18 TG3 (DS1) circuit pack.
