message-based operations system interface (X.25/TL1). For more information
about provisioning and the SECURITY-Set-Security-Port input, refer to
Volume I, Section 8, "Administration and Provisioning."
A pair of compatible modems allows remote dial-up access to the FT-2000 OC-48
Lightwave System from a CIT over the public switched telephone network. One
modem is connected to the CIT (DTE) port at the FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave
System, and the other modem is connected to the serial port of the CIT. An
internal modem in the CIT may be used instead of a stand-alone modem.
A digital data network may be used in place of the modem pair to provide remote
dial-up access to the FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System from the CIT.
A compatible modem or digital data network must meet the following minimum
requirements:
n Full duplex
n Asynchronous
n Byte serial data transmission of eight bit bytes
n One start bit
n One stop bit
n Data transmission speed should be from 1200 to 9600 baud.
The modem must comply with one of the following transmission standards
depending on the desired baud rate. These standards apply to signaling used
between modems.
For more information about establishing dial-up access using a modem and local
access using a null modem adapter, refer to the "Operation and Maintenance
(TOP)" section (Volume II).
