â– CONFIGURATION-SET-OC-12 (TL1 = ENT-rr): This input sets the
Protection Mode, Alarm Level, Signal Degrade Threshold, Output AU4
Mapping, and Sync Messaging of the OC-12 line. This input sets the
provisioned protection mode parameters successfully even if the quad slot
associated with addressed quad pair is not equipped with an OC-12 circuit
pack type or is in the AUTO state.
— The Protection Mode (from OC12) parameter sets the protection
mode of a low-speed interface slot to "1+1" or "0x1" in the add
direction (from OC-12 to OC-48). The "1+1" protection mode is
provided by using a pair of adjacent quad low-speed interfaces (for
example, command slots 1B and 3B, or command slots 5B and 7B).
Each "1+1" protected OC12 quad pair establishes an active
cross-connection between one quad of the quad pair and an
STS-12/STS-12c tributary, and a standby cross-connection between
the other quad and the same tributary.
To implement the OC12 operating protection mode, the following
condition must exist:
â– Both quads in the quad pair must be provisioned "1+1"
â– Both quads in the quad pair must be EQ
â– A cross-connection must exist between either quad in the
quad pair and an STS-12/STS-12c tributary.
— The Protection Mode (from OC48) parameter sets the protection
mode of a low-speed interface slot to "1+1" or "0x1" in the drop
direction (from OC-48 to OC-12). The "1+1" protection mode is
provided by using a pair of adjacent quad low-speed interfaces. For
a "1+1" protected OC12 circuit pack pair, the STS-12/STS-12c
tributary feeds the low-speed signal to both quads.
To implement the OC12 operating protection mode, the following
conditions must exist:
â– Both quads in the quad pair must be provisioned "1+1"
â– Both quads in the quad pair must be EQ
â– A cross-connection must exist between either quad in the
quad pair and an STS-12/STS-12c tributary.
NOTE:
When two independent 1-way 1+1 circuits share the same OC12 (1.3 STD)
quad pair, provision the 1+1 system in the drop direction as two 0x1
systems that are bridged. This prevents K-byte signals (used for protection
switching) and certain maintenance signals that are based on 2-way
service from being returned to the far end terminal.
When a quad pair transitions from 0x1 unprotected operation to 1+1
protected operation, the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
automatically selects add cross-connection from the "1B/5B
