Administration and Provisioning
8-134 Issue 8.0 July 2002
DS-NE is the single reference point in a ring network. The DS-NE
stores the IDs of the other network elements in the ring and updates
the other network elements after configuration changes. In
Release 6, one FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal can act as
a DS-NE for a SONET subnetwork of up to 24 network elements. In
Release7, one FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal can act as
a DS-NE for a SONET subnetwork of up to 32 network elements.
!
CAUTION:
Changing the value of the directory server parameter may affect the
operation of other network elements in the ring.
— The X.25 Packet Size parameter (Release 6 and later) specifies the
X.25 packet size to be used for a TL1 session to the local network
element.
!
CAUTION:
Changing the value of the X.25 packet size parameter will cause the
X.25 link to be reset and all active TL1 logins will be automatically
dropped. All established SVCs and PVCs on the affected X.25 link
will have to be reestablished.
!
CAUTION:
Changing the value of the X.25 packet size parameter and the
directory server parameter will cause the X.25 link to be reset and all
active TL1 logins will be automatically dropped. All established SVCs
and PVCs on the affected X.25 link will have to be reestablished.
Also, the operation of other network elements in the ring may be
affected.
— The Alarm Group parameter (Release 6 and later) specifies the
alarm group to which the local network element belongs. An alarm
group is a set of up to 32 network elements that share remote alarm
information. When Release 6 of the FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal interworks with Release 7.2 of the
DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, the recommended maximum alarm
group size is 24 network elements. When Release 6 of the FT-2000
OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal interworks with Release 9 of the
DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, the recommended maximum alarm
group size is 24 network elements. When Release 7 of the FT-2000
OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal interworks with Release 7.2 or
Release 9 of the DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer, the recommended
maximum alarm group size is 32 network elements.
The Alarm Group parameter may have a value of 0 to 255. A value
of 0 indicates that the local network element does not exchange
remote status information with other network elements. All other
