GL-21
TID
Target Identifier — A provisionable parameter used to identify the FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave
System.
TIE
Time Interval Error — The variation of time delay of a given timing signal with respect to an ideal
timing signal over a particular period of time.
TL1
Transaction Language 1 — A machine-to-machine communications language that is a subset of
CCITT's human-machine language.
TOHCTL
The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System Overhead Controller - Tributary circuit pack provides user
access to the OC-3 data communications channel (DCC). The TOHCTL terminates up to eight
OC-3 DCCs.
TOP
Task Oriented Practice.
TR
Technical Reference.
Tri butary
A 51.84 Mb/s signal (STS-1 level) or 155 Mb/s signal (STS-3 level) within the FT-2000 OC-48 Light-
wave System. The maximum capacity of an OC-48 signal is forty-eight 51.84 Mb/s tributaries (or
sixteen 155 Mb/s tributaries).
TSA
Time Slot Assignment — This is a capability of the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
that allows any service STS-3 tributary to be cross-connected to any service low speed interface
slot or to the same-numbered service STS-3 tributary in the opposite direction. In Release 7 and
later releases, the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal has an STS-1 TSA capability that
allows any service STS-1 tributary to be cross-connected to any service low speed port or to the
same-numbered service STS-1 tributary in the opposite direction.
TSO
Technical Support Organization — Refer to as Customer Technical Support (CTS).
U
UAS
Unavailable Seconds — A second during which the monitored facility is unavailable. The unavail-
able seconds are monitored for the OC-48 line, OC-3 line, STS-1 path, EC-1 line, and DS3 path.
Upgrade
An upgrade is the addition of new capabilities (features) to an existing platform. This requires new
software and may require new hardware.
