3.10 Plant update
Introduction
The following section describes the basic procedure for a plant update.
Read the information in the "PCS 7 Readme" file before beginning the system update.
A plant update includes:
Replacement of existing hardware, such as PC, AS memory, network adapters
If applicable, the installation of new operating systems, such as Windows 7 and Windows
Server 2008 R2 64-bit
Installation or reinstallation of SIMATIC PCS 7 with SIMATIC BATCH = software update.
For the update, there are two possible options:
With use of new functions
Without use of new functions
Update of PCS 7 project with SIMATIC BATCH = project update
Notes
It is possible to use a "PC image" for the supported operating systems.
If you select a 64-bit operating system, you may need to replace existing CP1613 A1 type
communications processors with a new CP1613 A2 for BATCH servers, BATCH clients
and the ES.
If you use the "AS-based" mode, it may be necessary to expand the memory of your
automation systems.
Software update during operation (SUIR)
Older versions cannot be upgraded to version SIMATIC BATCH V8.2 during operation.
The software update is once again supported in later versions.
With the redundant SIMATIC BATCH server both servers must be completed using the
SIMATIC BATCH start coordinator before a software update may be started.
Before the servers can be restarted in redundant mode the security settings on both servers
must be set to the same mode (either only “Compatible" or only “NTLM”). If this is not the
case, this can lead to disturbances in operation.
With a software update of the servers the server security setting is initially set to
"Compatible".
With a new installation of servers before starting the server the server security setting
(“Compatible" or “NTLM”) must be made.
The restrictions do not apply to service packs and updates within the version SIMATIC
BATCH V8.2.
For more information about making the security settings data, refer to the section
“Configuring the security settings on the SIMATIC BATCH server (Page 77)“
