The pre-aligner is used as a subsystem to the robot; the primary RS-232 port (COM
1) of the pre-aligner controller is connected to the COM 2 port of the robot's
controller. When daisy-chained, the robot's controller will act as a master, and the
pre-aligner controller will be the slave. All data is sent to the primary port of the robot
controller (DB 25 connector located on the CPU card). A macro being executed by
the main controller (that of the robot) can also send a command to the second
controller (that of the pre-aligner) and send and receive data accordingly. The system
host controller transmits software commands using ASCII strings to the robot via the
DB 25 male connector RS-232 serial port located on the CPU card at the back of the
Equipe Smart Controller box. The 7AF's control computer's communication to the
robot and pre-aligner is via its serial port (COM 1).
DIGITAL MEASUREMENT PROBES
The Heidenhain digital probes communicate with the control computer via a probe
measurement counter card inserted directly into Slot 1 of the control computer. The
probe measurement counter card connects the digital output signals of the left and
right work chuck probes directly to the control computer.
