2. If the work chucks and their backing plates are installed, remove them by
following the steps below:
Note:
The machine is shipped with the shrouds and mounting plates installed on the
lower air bearings. Work chucks are not installed before shipping. If work
chucks are now installed, remove them.
a. Using a 3/16-in. hex key, remove the four 1/4-20 socket head capscrews
securing the work chuck and its backing plate to the mounting plate of the
left spindle by rotating them counterclockwise.
b. Lift off the work chuck assembly and set it aside.
• Insert 1/4-20 socket head screws into the side holes of the backing
plate to use as handles for lifting the backing plate away from the
mounting plate.
To prevent marring of the backing and mounting plates, DO NOT
INSERT ANYTHING between them.
c. Repeat Steps a. and b., immediately above, to remove the work chuck
assembly from the right spindle.
