3. Check the tension of the horizontal travel belt:
a. Press the belt at midspan with your finger.
GOAL: The belt should deflect 1/8 in. at center of belt span with
2 LBS. pressure.
Note:
For a rough gauge of the feel of the pounds of force needed, press a scale
with your finger until it registers the poundage you need to apply.
b. If the tension meets the goal, go on to Section D., When Satisfactory
Adjustment Is Achieved, below.
c. If the tension needs adjustment, go to the Adjustment Procedure section,
below, to make corrections.
C. ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the four motor mount nuts:
a. Using a 5/32-in. hex key, hold one of the four #10 socket head capscrews
while
using a 3/8-in. open end wrench to rotate its nut counterclockwise to
loosen.
b. Repeat for the other three capscrews and nuts.
2. Adjust the motor position as needed to meet the goal.
Push down on the motor to tighten belt tension.
Pull up on the motor to soften belt tension.
3. When the goal has been met, retighten each of the nuts to firm by rotating them
clockwise while holding the accompanying bolt stationary.
4. Recheck the adjustment by repeating Step 3., above in Section B.
a. If the tension meets the goal, go on to Section D., When Satisfactory
Adjustment Is Achieved, below.
