If the air temperature is below -10 C (14 F),
use an engine block heater.
The temperature gauge needle should read in
the green zone during normal operation (top
drawing)
. Watch the temperature gauge
closely and respond as follows:
•
If the temperature warning light comes on
or the needle enters the red zone, do NOT
shut off the engine. Reduce the load and
run the engine at a slower speed to lower
the coolant temperature. Shutting the
engine off will cause the coolant
temperature to rise even higher, which can
result in machine damage.
•
If the needle moves into the red zone at
115 C (240 F) (bottom drawing)
stop the
engine and check the problem
immediately.
