Electrical System Service 9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
Connecting Booster
Cold weather starting can be made easier by
connecting an additional 12-
volt battery in
parallel.
1.
Connect the first jumper cable to the
positive (+) post of the booster battery and
to the positive (+) post of the combine
battery.
2.
Connect the second jumper cable to the
negative (-) post of the booster battery and
then to a good ground on the combine,
away from combine batteries.
CAUTION
Gas driven off by batteries is explosive.
Avoid sparks near batteries.
NEVER connect jumper cables with key
switch on.
NEVER jump start with more than 12 volts.
NOTE! Jump starting at temperatures
below 0°C (32°F) with a system greater
than 12 volts is not recommended, since
glow plugs will not operate if Engine
Control Unit (ECU) detects a voltage
greater than 14 volts. Glow plugs will not
operate if voltage drops below 6 volts.
