Engine Service 9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
Air Cleaner Filters
Service the air filter and safety element when
the engine air filter
icon is displayed on the
CommandCenter display.
To change the air filter:
1. Open latches and remove the dust cover
(top two photos).
2. Pull out the primary filter
(bottom photo)
and safety element. The safety element
stops dirt that would pass through a
damaged primary filter.
IMPORTANT! Remember the following
when you service filters:
Turn the engine off, set the parking
brake, and remove the key to prevent
dirt from being pulled into the engine.
Never run the engine without both
filters in place.
Never clean the safety element.
Replace if dirty.
Do NOT use an exhaust flow cleaning
unit to blow chaff off of the combine.
Using such a unit can cause air filter
failure, followed by engine failure.
Never wash, brush, or knock
elements. If blowing out the primary
filter, use dry compressed air (500 kPa
(72.5 psi)). Clean the filter from the
inside out, making sure the tip of the
air gun does not come in contact with
the filter paper.
Do NOT direct air against outside of
filter, as it might force dirt through to
inside.
