Engine Service 9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
1. Fill the radiator until no more fluid can be
added and fluid begins to run into the
surge tank (top photo). The
radiator/heater system has
45.5 qts (43 L). fluid.
2. Finish filling the radiator until the fluid is at
“Full Cold” mark (middle photo)
surge tank.
3. Install the cap on the radiator.
4. Turn the heater to ON and run the engine
until it reaches operating temperature.
5. Remove the cap from the surge tank and
refill as necessary. Do NOT fill the surge
tank from radiator.
6. Install the cap on the surge tank and
close the door.
Avoid being scalded when the radiator cap
is removed. To open the cap, turn the cap
slightly to the radiator stop and pause.
This allows the steam to safely vent. After
the steam has completed vented, carefully
open the cap completely. Check coolant
only when engine is cold.
IMPORTANT! A special radiator cap is
used on 6.8 L engines. If the radiator cap
is damaged or missing, it must be replaced
by an equivalent radiator cap.
NOTE! When the engine is cool, the
coolant level should be up to the “COLD”
cap to fill
