9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine Engine Service
The combine is equipped with a fuel injection
system. It is important to perform the regular
maintenance on the system indicated in this
manual. Read and follow all safety warnings
included in this manual and on the combine
before attempting to maintain your system.
IMPORTANT! Do NOT modify or alter
the injection pump, injection pump
timing, or fuel injectors in anyway not
recommended by the manufacturer. To
do so will terminate the warranty
obligation to the purchaser.
Do NOT attempt to service injection
pump or fuel injectors yourself. Special
training and special tools are required.
When service is required, see your
AMADAS/John Deere dealer.
Never steam clean or spray water on a
warm injection pump, as this could cause
damage to pump parts.
Remember the following when handling
fuel:
• Always handle fuel carefully.
• Turn off the engine before filling the
tank. The rotary screen turns when
the engine is running.
•
Do NOT overfill fuel tank. Bodily
injury can result fr
om fuel splash
back. Leakage can result from
expansion of fuel. If the tank is filled
too full, then left in direct sunlight or if
temperature gets too hot, the tank
can explode.
•
Do NOT refuel the machine while
smoking.
Escaping diesel fuel under pressure can
penetrate the skin causing serious injury.
Relieve pressure before disconnecting
hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all
connections before applying pressure.
Keep hands and body away from pin
holes and nozzles which eject fluids
under pressure. Use a piece of
cardboard or paper to search for leaks.
If ANY fluid is injected into the skin, it
must be surgically removed within a few
hours by a doctor familiar with this type
of injury or gangrene may result.
