9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine Engine Service
Winterizing
Before cold weather, be sure the cooling
system has enough antifreeze. Use a reliable
brand of permanent-
type ethylene glycol
antifreeze which contains a rust inhibitor and
water pump lubricant, but does NOT contain a
leak-stopping additive. See Chapter 19, Fuel
and Lubricants, for information on coolants.
After adding antifreeze, turn the heater on and
run the
engine until it reaches operating
temperature. This mixes the solution and
circulates it through the system.
IMPORTANT! Do NOT drain cooling
system to protect against freezing. The
heater does not drain completely, so
damage would result.
