9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine Troubleshooting
PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION
Excessive amounts of LKSs in
bin.
Adjustable breast spring bars
are set too aggressively.
Disengage in 1” increments
between checks.
Picking control board engaged
too far in the closed position.
Open in 1” increments
between checks.
. Elevator fan set too high. Lower elevator fan setting.
Variable cylinder speed too
high.
Decrease variable cylinder
speed.
Main drive belt slips under
surge.
Tighten belts.
Moisture level in windrows too
high.
Lift windrows or wait for
moisture to dissipate.
Moisture content in peanuts
too low.
Minimize aggressive settings,
reduce combine RPM 10%.
Increase to a higher ground
speed if possible.
Combine separator not at or
near design speed.
Adjust speed and monitor
combine tachometer.
Obstruction in pneumatic
conveyor.
Shut off combine,
disassemble duct, and
remove obstruction.
Stones in air duct.
Shut off engine, open cleaning
door and remove stones.
Close door.
Windrows have been run over
and the peanuts shell easily.
None.
Combine picking chamber not
fully loaded.
Increase ground speed
slightly.
Excessive amounts of dirt
clods in bin.
Pickup header is being
operated too low.
Raise header so that spring
tips just touch the ground.
Excessive dirt in windrow.
Ground speed too fast for
conditions.
Lower ground speed.
Combine separator not at or
near design speed.
Adjust speed and monitor
combine tachometer.
Main drive or cleaning air
belts are slipping.
Tighten belts and check
cleaning air fan belt and V
sheave for wear.
Breast springs not engaged.
Engage breast springs in 1”
increments.
