71 -Maintenance Procedures

If only the locking of the GPC is damaged, it is possible to replace the GPC
connector housing.
(1)
If the crimps or cables dedicated to GPC are
damaged, replace the engine harness.
Disassembly procedure
(2)
Remove the tape, label, and cable ties.
Use a cutter.
Refer to Fig. 71 - 109.
Remove the single wires from the connector housing.
Do not damage the single wires!
(3)
Put a screwdriver blade between the mating
seal and one of the red wedge lock tabs.
Screwdriver blade wide 4.8 mm.
Refer to Fig. 71 - 110.
Do not remove the wedge lock from the housing!

Move the wedge tab to the opening
position.
Refer to Fig. 71 - 110.
(5)
Carefully pull the wire while you turn the
wire back and forward over a half turn (1/4
turn in each direction).
(6)
Remove all contacts.
(7)
Remove the GPC housing.
(8)
Examine each crimp for damage.
(9)
Do a check of the connection between GPC
connector pins.
Use an Ohmmeter.
Refer to Table 71 - 5.

Put the label from the repair kit over the
cable.
(11)
Put the cable into the connector housing.
Assembly procedure
(12)
Make sure that the wedge lock is in the
open position.
Refer to Fig. 71 - 110.
(13)
Engage a contact:
- push the contact into the related circuit
cavity as far as it goes.
Refer to Fig. 71 - 111.
(14)
Pull back the contact wire with a force of 1
to 2 lbs.
Make sure that the retention fingers hold
the contact.
(15)
Engage all contacts.
